Company to build plant in Marion County

Carolina AAC, LLC will build a $17 million plant to produce its "green" construction material in Marion County. The investment is expected to bring 36 full time jobs to the community. The Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (AAC) company is touted as fire resistant; environmentally friendly; a noise reducer; pest resistant; strong and economical. The company will be a catalyst for creating many "green" construction jobs throughout the Southeast and is expected to bring other spin-off industries to the area, said Chuck Paterno, managing member of Carolina AAC.

Call Center locates in Marion County

LogistiCare, a company that coordinates non-emergency medical transportation to Medicaid patients, has established a call center in Mullins creating approximately 50 new jobs. According to a press conference, the company will handle about 2,300 calls per day and is projected to schedule about 1.4 million trips annually.

New Company To Supply Coastal Housing "Boom"

U.S. Components, a division of The Strober Organization, has started operations in their Nichols facility. The company makes trusses, panels, etc. for the housing industry and will employ approximately 165 people. The company expanded to Marion County to supply the housing industry along the coast of North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia.

"Bargains Galore" From New Distribution Center

Bargain Warehouse, a Myrtle Beach based firm, opened a distribution center in a 296,000 square foot building in the Marion County Industrial Park. This center will distribute various commodities to customers throughout the southeastern United States. The company will create 20 to 50 jobs.

Coca-Cola Consolidates Distribution Centers

CoCa-Cola is consolidating their numerous and smaller distribution centers into Regional Distribution Centers. One of the regional centers will be located in Marion County. The Marion location will create approximately 40 new jobs.

Entertainment Center Has Big Plans For Marion County

Carolina Entertainment Complex has announced the development of an entertainment center located on a 200 acre site along U.S. Highway 501 in Marion County. The development began with the opening of an amphitheater that will host numerous and various shows with well known performers. Other phases of development will include the development of an RV Park, equestrian arena and an active adult residential community.

More Shopping Opportunities For Area Residents

A Wal-Mart Supercenter will be opening in the fall of 2007. The facility is located in a retail/commercial development located at the interchange of U.S. Highway 76 and U.S. Highway 501 By-pass between the cities of Marion and Mullins. The supercenter will create approximately 200 jobs. The "Supercenter" and other retail shops are being developed by Avtex Commercial Properties, Greenville, South Carolina.

Transportation Upgrade

In January 2007, construction was completed on S.C. Highway 38 between the City of Marion and Interstate 95. This upgrade allows for four lane traffic from I-95 to Myrtle Beach with only two stop lights along the route. This provides an excellent route to the Greater Grand Strand area while reducing the congestion significantly.
